Wanted to provide a quick update (26 August, 2010)

Online via Paypal we have received so far: 1313 USD

Via Western Union about 155 USD

Via Offline about 70 USD

other 400 USD

We are still short of about 1300 USD from our target of 3300. I pray and hope that you could help me spread the words and help in raising the target funds.

It is saddening to see lack of funds raised for genuine need and cause, partly because to see how people have this false notion of religiosity that praying lot, reading the Scripture lot is everything there is to be pious - where as we are not even a true believer who claim surrender to divine (muslim) when our neighbors go hungry at night and we sleep with our stomach full - people forget such seriousness of what it means to be believer and to realize oneness with others - and that ignorance equally applies to me at times.

even one who prays with such ignorance, with such negligence of what is the need of the hour, that prayer is also shun:

Interesting in the Chapter called, "Small Kindness" (Surah Maun) we read:

Have you seen who belies the Path?
That is the one who treats the orphan with harshness,
And encourages not the feeding of the poor.
So woe to the praying ones, who are heedless of their prayer .
Those who want to be seen (as their religiosity in hypocrisy),
But REFUSE THE SMALL KINDNESS.

Dear Sadiq,

Thank you for this very nice post. I particularly like the elaboration on sun, water, earth, and night. The passage from the Kashf al-Mahjub is also nice.

May we all embody, every moment, being deeply concerned, and tenderly compassionate for our fellow human beings.

A reminder to those regarding our Beloved Lineage Lord, Muhammad Mustafa and how his way was in the month of Ramadan in terms of his charity:

"Prophet Muhammad did not like anyone to go away empty-handed; whoever came to him asking for food was given it to his full satisfaction. He would give to the needy and the destitute whatever he had in his house, so that occasionally the Prophet was left with nothing for himself and his family to eat. Sometimes, he and his family did not get any food for several successive days. It is said that his charity reached its climax during the month of Ramadan, when it became like an overflowing stream(or faster than the rain bearing wind ,in readiness and haste to do charitable deeds, according to some sources) . The Prophet said that he only maintained and distributed things; it was Allah who provided everything. Many sayings of the Prophet are recorded asserting the excellence of charity even though it may be insignificant in quantity or value."

May we give and contribute to our brother Sadiq's worthy cause. Ameen.
