Among the Sufis the 'presences' (hadarat are usually enumerated as five or six - your analysis here leaves out the two most important. These are the ghayb al mutlaq - the 'absolutely absent' - which, in the traditional language, is the presence of "He was, and there was not with Him a thing", the Divine Essence in total "richness beyond need" of creation.

The other is the presence of the completed, or 'universal' human being, the insan al kamil, which is considered to encompass all of the other presences. Of this Hazrat 'Ali said: "You thought yourself a part, small; whereas in you there is a universe, the greatest."

This is the Reality of humankind: it is not something to be created by human beings through their own efforts of purification or a reward for the punctilious performance of religious duties.

"Indeed We created Man in the best of forms, thereafter we reduce him to the lowest of the low..." (Laqad khalqna al insana fi ahsani taqweemin thumma radadnahu asfal as safeelina 95:4-5)

This creation is of a being that englobes the whole order, from the absolute ghayb to the utterly conditioned 'presence of sense and witnessing' (alam al shuhud, mulk). But the reduction to the lowest of the low comes because, for this being to encompass a material cosmos, billions of years of stellar, planetary and, later, biological, evolution are necessary to produce an animal capable of expressing the Dignity of Man.

The mystical path is thus not a 'becoming' - it is the realization of what always has been. The 'mirror' in which this is seen is, as the Shaykh al-Akbar wisely observes "God". But it is first "God" in the form of the master; then - as the mirror of the master reveals - "God" in the form of one's innermost Self; and then "God" as the All, the totality of experience and impressions.

Many of the comments I read in this blog, left behind by those blessed soul who come to visit here, reminds me of the affirmation of Inayat Khan.

The music almost made my heart leap from the chest. Eyes rolling with tears as the singer calls for Madad, calls for help from the luminous beings.

Here is something to share with you.

Recently, I have started praying salah and for the last few weeks, I have been reading the Quran every night. This has included reading Ayat-ul-Kursi and Surah Yasin extensively.

A few nights ago, whilst performing Isha salat, I began getting a 'vision' of what I can only describe as a 'man', who was wearing all white and whose face radiated a white colour. Every time I closed my eyes whilst reading salah, I saw this 'vision'.
After reading salah, I began to read the Ayat-ul-Kursi and again felt a strange presence in the room. Whilst reading, I felt that the same 'person' was sitting close to me, just listening to my reciting the Quran. For a couple of seconds, I saw the same 'person' sitting on the floor close to me, dressed all in white robe-type clothes and all around 'him' was a brilliant white light. This 'person' did not speak, but merely sat listening.

I explained this to a friend of mine who said that an Imam had told them that this was a very good sign and that the 'vision' was of an angel! Perhaps it was a being from the realm of the Malakut, the otherwise invisible made visible for few moments.

Thank you for sharing this very informative information. I agree that we needed a mirror to see the other side of the universe. What we see in the mirror is the other side of the universe just like our self. We have to see our self in order to see the other entities. We are created in God’s image that is why He is our mirror. What we do on earth reflects what we do in heaven.

This amazing post is so rich with so many things: the metaphor of the mirror; the deep secrets revealed; the special insights. I agree – it is the best explanation I have ever read on the subject. The seed also reminds me of a dream I had in 1993, which I have been thinking about lately, evidently in synchronicity with this posting! The dream was about finding my own seed through many layers of coverings. When it finally emerged from its secret chamber and I held it in my hands, it revealed how it had ‘telescoped’ all the way from the Om point (beyond which is pure unmanifest God), and also how the form around it changes along the way through evolution and involution. In addition to telescoping through outer universes and inner worlds, on an individual level during all of one’s lifetimes, one’s seed never disintegrates at death like the physical body does, but remains alive and re-emerges into each reincarnation in one’s long journey. Your seed is always in you, and you are always in your seed, and when you hold it in your hands you are holding your own original drop soul from very ancient times, a drop of the pure unmanifest God.
