As for me, I don’t surrender to any sheikh or guru. Quran is enough for me. God is my Sheikh. I only surrender no god but God and prostrate before One and only One God. God keeps his promises. The promise He made to me is in verse 18:65 (Quran) (1). That promise is enough for me. Thank God I have been saved from so many false sheikhs and gurus by that verse. I have given up all the sheikhs and gurus of the past, present, and the future for the promise of that one verse.

Who can be better in religion than one who submits/surrender his whole self to Alllah, does good, and follows the way of Abraham the true in faith? For Allah did take Abraham for a friend. Quran 4:125. (1)

Who is better: one who surrenders to Allah or one who surrenders to a sheikh?
Do you want to be friend of Allah or a friend of a sheikh?

I know my heart better than you know my heart. God did not put in my heart desire to surrender to Sheikh.

When you can say the below prayers with all your heart and all your soul, you are rare soul indeed. You don’t need me. You don’t need a sheikh. Meditate on the below as often as you can. Visualize yourself as surrendering to Allah.

“I have turned my face earnestly toward Him who originated the heavens and the earth, and I am not of the polytheists”. “My Salaat, and my offering and my living and my dying are all for Allah, the Lord of the Worlds. No partner has He, concerning this I have been enjoined; and I am the first to surrender to Him”. (Quran, 6:162:163) (4).

Instead of getting into endless arguments, we need to allow each seeker to decide for him/herself whether he/she needs a sheikh/sheikha on the path or not. If someone does not feel comfortable with surrendering to a sheikh, let him go on the journey on his own. Self-reliance is happiness.

What is ego? What is arrogance?

Since ego and arrogance left me long time ago, I have not time to talk about ego and arrogance. Ego and arrogance talk is for beginners like you on the path.

Shame? Why should I be ashamed? I am happy in my relationship with my Creator. It is not between you all and I. It is between me and my Creator. I am pleased with Allah, and Allah is pleased with me. Should I apologize because Allah has blessed me?

No apology from me; no shame for AV!

Do not take me wrong. I respect all the sheikhs. I owe a lot to them. My progress on the Sufi path would have been impossible without their teachings. However, in all my searches, Quran has been my constant companion. It has been my compass. It has saved me. Take everything that I have, but leave the Quran with me. Quran will be sufficient for me. Allah suffices for me. Muhammad is enough for me. If you do take everything from me, God promises me this: And We restored his people to him, and doubled their number as a Grace from Ourselves. Quran 21:84. (1) Quran is my Pen (my argument, my proof, my sustenance); Quran is my Olive Branch (peace with those who want peace with me); Quran is my Sword (war with those who want war with me until final victory).

If someone comes to you and pointing to a cow tells you, "what a lovely horse" - you immediately can tell for sure, this fellow neither knows a cow, nor a horse.

Similarly, the person behind the nick AV - knows neither "what sufi path is" and "what sufism is not." For some good length of time, he claim that he knows about "Authentic Sufi Path", whereas he never gets what it means to "take hand with the Sheikh" - which is the essence of Sufi Path.

What Prophet Muhammad (s) was, Sheikh of the Sufi path are his successors, his khadim, his servants, his vicegerent to the next generation and so forth.

If one fail to understand the role of a mystic guide and surrender to the guide, one has for sure have failed to enter into the meaning of La ilaha illa Allah Muhammad Rasulullah - because it is a seamless witnessing, its not a compound sentence with "wa" or "and" in between but one continuous reality and that Nur Muhammad is passed to the Sheikhs who carry the light until the intercession.

One who keep talking so big on "I am this, I am that" have for surely neither known "who this I is" and "what this I is not."

Talking down the role of the Sheikhs and still claiming one is talking about Sufism is like claiming to preach Christian teaching - while at the same time claiming that there is no historical evidence of Jesus Christ.

How utterly stupid are you AV? If Sufism is not from the Sheikhs, then is it from book reading? Sufism is not book reading - it is heart knowledge and passed down from one heart to another and the depository of such knowledge is the pure heart of a Sheikh.

How dare AV compare himself with Prophet Muhammad (s) with his baseless and mistaken and utterly psychologically sick thought process. How dare he is. Even the greatest of the awliyas considered themselves dust at the feet of the Rasul, yet this man of no shame compare himself with the Rasul.

He has no sense nor shame of his own voidness.

If you read this AV, we and yes WE strongly urge you to drop your arrogance, repent, find a Sheikh. Since your ego has grown so big that you shun all the Sheikhs and surrender to such being, as the sahabas sacrificed themselves to the Rasul - know this, and know this for certainty and God is our witness that your salvation is only with a proper Sheikh. So before it is too late, find one and dont pride yourself with anything.

Your comment here (and other places) are witness enough that you have reached no where in your journey, no where. Else you would not be claiming yourself in this debasing fashion.

Shame on you for speaking about Sufism, while talking down of the warriors of truth, the Sheikhs and Awliyas. Shame on you for failing utterly and speaking abusingly to those who gave islam its life. Finally, you and some of the others would not understand what I am talking about because I have reached spiritual maturity while some of you are still wandering and have yet to make commitment to ASP. You can not say what I can say which is this: My heart was a kaba, is kaba, and will always be a kaba. Neither can you relate to this: “My servant comes close to me with his continuous devotion until I love him and when I love him I become his ears with which he hears and his eyes with which he sees and his tongue which he speaks and his hand with which he holds.” I, AV, am that servant!

Nor can you understand this: “When Allah loves a servant He calls the archangel Gabriel and says, ‘I love this servant of Mine, love him also.’ Then Gabriel calls unto the heavens and says, “Oh all those who are in the heavens, Allah loves this servant, love him too.” So all that exist in the heavens love him. The the love of that servant is proposed to the creatures of the earth and they love him also.” I, AV, am that servant!

Nor can you relate to this:
“Now I have known, O Lord,
What lies within my heart;
In secret, from the world apart
My tongue hath talked with my Adored.

Though from my gaze profound
Deep awe hath hid Thy face
In wondrous and ecstatic Grace

“My heart has become capable of every form: it is a pasture for gazelles and a convent for Christian monks,
And a temple for idols, and the pilgrim's Ka'ba, and the tables of the Tora and the book of the Koran”.

This statement of Ibn Arabi (may God be pleased with him) is much abused by Sufis like you and others. Ibn Arabi encouraged Muslims to have respect and understanding for religious diversity. He believed in understanding and tolerance of other faiths. He was for diversity longer before there was such thing as diversity. Westerners are Johnny come latelies to diversity. Westerners had no idea of diversity. They have discovered diversity in 20th century. However, they apply it selectively. The Jews are the “Pampered or Chosen Minority” while Muslims are much abused and discriminated minority throughout Europe and some parts of Americas.

He practiced tolerance, understanding, and respect for other faiths and spiritual practices. This does not contradict the Quran or the practices of the Prophet (pbuh).

However, some of you have turned Ibn Arabi teachings into promoting shirk and “spiritual promiscuity”. You have twisted his teaching. You are disrespecting him and doing a great disservice to his spiritual ideas. In the process, you are harming authentic Sufism. Sufism is not about “spiritual promiscuity”, but it is all about commitment, commitment, and commitment to Allah, Quran, and Muhammad. True Sufism is based on Allah, Quran, and Muhammad. Sufism which is devoid of these three is “spiritual fraud”. It should be called something else.

You are like Bahlul. You have read much but learned and absorbed very little. You are like a donkey with heavy load of books.

What does the moon symbolize in Islamic literature? You will find in Sufi literature much discussion of the moon. One of the main symbols of Islam is the crescent moon and, in fact the Prophet himself (peace be upon him) is associated with the moon. In the Sufi context, the moon is a positive symbol because it occupies an important position in the extended allegory of light, which is used extensively in their teachings.

Having read your comments over a year or so now, I find you to be knowledgeable about Islam, Sufism, etc. However, one thing you lack is commitment. That is the flaw in your character which will be your undoing. All seekers start as wanderers in their initial search for truth, but few seekers are fortunate enough to reach in their search to the stage/maqam of commitment. You have made commitment to nothing other than aimless wandering. Wandering will lead you to more wandering; however, commitment is what you need on the Authentic Sufi Path (ASP) or AQM-Sufism. ASP is all about commitment. Commitment to the three: Allah, Quran, and Muhammad. In contrast, Non Authentic Sufi Path (NASP) is aimless wandering. It leads to spiritual death.

Your response to my comments to put it mildly is disingenuous but to put it bluntly, it is dishonest. You are a munafiq. You know full well about the symbolism of the moon. To play the devil advocate or to argue for the sake argument, it is a sign of hypocrisy and duplicity.
Reflect on this: Mullah Nasrudin walked into a teahouse and announced, "The moon is more useful than the sun." "Why?" he was asked. "Because at night we need the light more." Some might find this amusing, but it has deeper meaning. I think you are well aware of its deeper meaning.
Contemplate this: Quran says that Allah is a “noor”, a light. Look at Sura An-Noor 24:35, one of the most beautiful passages in the Qur'an. It reads:
Allah is the Light (noor) of the heavens and the earth.
The Parable of His Light (noor) is as if there were a Niche
and within it a Lamp (misbah): the Lamp (misbah) enclosed in Glass:
the glass as it were a brilliant star:
Lit from a blessed Tree, an Olive,
neither of the east nor of the west,
whose oil is well-nigh luminous,
though fire scarce touched it:
Light (noor) upon Light (noor)!
God does guide whom He will to His Light (noor):
God does set forth Parables for men: and God does know all things.

Which is better: Qamar al-muneer" is translated as "a moon giving light" (Sura 25:61) or the word "siraaj", in Suras 71:15-16 and 26:61 it is simply "lamp" referring to the sun and In Sura 78:13 "siraajan wahhajan" means "a dazzling lamp", again indicating the sun.
Why is Allah called "noor" and not "siraaj"? (Allah is the Light (noor) of the heavens and the earth).

Which will you choose “noor” or “siraaj”?

“…in response to his uncle’s plea to stop calling people to Islam, Muhammad’s answer was as decisive and sincere: {I swear by the name of God, O Uncle!, that if they place the sun in my right-hand and the moon in my left-hand in return for giving up this matter (calling people to Islam), I will never desist until either God makes it triumph or I perish defending it.”

“Long before there was any prospect of success for Islam and at the outset of a long and painful era of torture, suffering, and persecution of Muhammad and his followers, he received an interesting offer. An envoy of the pagan leaders, Otba, came to him saying, “...If you want money, we will collect enough money for you so that you will be the richest one of us. If you want leadership, we will take you as our leader and never decide on any matter without your approval. If you want a kingdom, we will crown you king over us...” Only one concession was required from Muhammad in return for that, to give up calling people to Islam and worshipping God alone without any partner. Wouldn’t this offer be tempting to one pursuing worldly benefit? Was Muhammad hesitant when the offer was made? Did he turn it down as a bargaining strategy leaving the door open for a better offer? The following was his answer: {In the Name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful} And he recited to Otba the verses of the Quran 41:1-38. “

The superiority of people of commitment and submission over people who engage in activities of “spiritual promiscuity, spiritual pimps and spiritual hookers” is that of superiority of MOON over the stars!

Sadiq asking me to give up my signature is like asking Muhammad to say there are more than one God! Sadiq raising objection to my signature is bomination. I have not missed anything by not posting any comments on this blog. If the Beloved wills it, I will be writing two books: one to deliver the same death blow to the whole idea of “surrendering to sheikh” as Imam Ghazzali delivered to the Arab philosophy. The book will be titled: Everything You Wanted To Know About Sufism But Were Too Afraid to Ask Your Shiekh!

The other book would be to expose Idries Shah and Inanyat Khan’s spiritual fraud and to deliver death blow to whole idea of Non Authentic Sufi Path (NASP). True Sufism is based on Allah, Quran, and Muhammad. Those who follow NASP are engaged in “spiritual fraud”.
