A man once asked the sage Bayzid al Bistami, Allah sanctify his soul, to show him the shortest way to reach Allah, to which Bayzid al Bistami replied “Love those who are loved by Allah and make yourself lovable to them so that they may come to love you.
Allah looks seventy times each day into the hearts of those whom He loves - perchance He may find your name in the heart of one such beloved - then He may come to love you and forgive you your short comings!”

Its said that a friend of friend also becomes a friend. Thus who are befriended by God, the saints, the truly enlightened servants of God, the Most High - befriend them. But in order to do that, one must first find them. And even though they are essentially self-effacing and hidden, yet to find them is not something made impossible. For verily there is a not a time in human history that God's earth didn't contain them, no matter how hidden they remain under the cloak of God's Protection from the world.
Infact its known in the esoteric circle that the grace which sustain this world will cease when the earth will be barren of such true Friends of God, when the earth will be barren of hearts which intimately and knowingly remember God. When there will be not a single friend of God living on earth, the cosmos will be folded and a new reality will be given birth to. Then this planetary existence, these million galaxies will come to an appointed and pre-destined end, the promised heaven and hell will be brought near and the Judgment Day will be brought in the moment. Human soul will be resurrected and the Lord of Majesty and Glory will begin our final accounting.
So until the Judgment Day arrive, the Friends are here among us. And if you do not know the direction to find them, then ask those who know. And its an instruction of God preserved in the Final Testament. In the Surah of al-Anbiya, (the Prophets) Allah says, “then ask those who are people of remembrance (ahl az-zikr) if you do not know.” To emphasize, the same message is repeated again in another place, in 16:43.
In the Surah called ash-Shura, which means Consultation ( 42:37) Allah describe the essential quality of the blessed ones as, "Those who hearken to their Lord, and establish regular Prayer; who (conduct) their affairs by mutual consultation; who spend out of what We bestow on them for Sustenance."
Thus to consult (not only in worldly affairs, not only for business but for spiritual benefit and guidance), to ask those who are ahl az-zikr, people of remembrance is a path towards illumination - it is partaking in the fragrance of wisdom, beauty and love from those who has wisdom, who embody beauty and who by the grace have perfected their love divine (Amor Divino).

Follow the shaikhs, the masters, the teachers of Truth, say the wise, discover their noble qualities, and, perhaps, thanks to their blessings, you will one day attain happiness. Sufis say, too, that the seeker must strive to win the love of the shaikh’s heart, because the hearts of shaikhs are the source of divine wisdom, and the murid, through the required diligence, sincerity, and loyalty to his teacher, will be enabled to acquire his share of this and, as a result, be honored with the blessedness of their mystical states.
To give an example, the great master Yusuf al-Hamadani, may Allah sanctify his Sirr, who was the teacher of Abdul Khaliq Gizhduvani, the founder and great mysticsaint of Central Asian School of Sufi Mysticism - he served two hundred thirteen shaikhs in his time, sometime carrying their goods, serving their food or simply being attentive in their presence.
When Jesus appeared on the land, most people remain oblivious but those with heart knowledge, came from far and away to visit him, to receive his blessings. Even the three wise men came from far east to receive the blessing of his presence and perhaps to initiate the baby Jesus with esoteric blessings. While in his mission, not everyone was interested in him. But those who had devotion and love in their heart, they hastened to see him, to hear his words of wisdom and to receive his glance.
The teachers of truth are heirs of the Prophets and Messengers. The Sufi Shaykhs are the heir of Prophet Muhammad, may Allah shower blessings on him and to find them, to be near them and sit in their circle of teaching is comparable to the role you could have had you were born in the time of the Prophets. Understand this wisdom. What happened in the past, is still happening within us. As it is in the horizontal time, so it is in vertical time within. The reality of human existence is such that no matter in what form, age and circumstances we are born and live, we are tested never the less for our sincerity, devotion, love and willingness to sacrifice for truth. If someone in his or her present life time doesn't feel the thirst to find such true human beings today, to be near them and to receive blessings from them - it can be safely said that such person, had they were born in the time of Krishna, Christ or Muhammad would display the same oblivious attitude as well and would remain blind in the same fashion as they are towards the successors of those great souls.
And Allah knows your coming and going
as well as your staying.

The perfume is best obtained, not from reading of past accounts from dead pages but being in real garden with alive flowers and flowing life-giving breeze - that is by being near the presence of the awliya, the saints of the time and by being under their gaze and love.

Rumi, one who from being a proud teacher of religious doctrine became a sincere, devout seeker and God realized human being, thanks to his partaking the fragrance from his dervish teacher, Shams e Tabriz. Here is Shaykh Jelaluddin Rumi's invitation on behalf of the true Masters of Truth:
come with us
and you will become a seeker.
If you were never a musician
come with us
and you will find your voice.
You may posses immense wealth
come with us
and you will become love's beggar.
You may think yourself a master

Veneration and respect for the Sufis Sheikhs are fine but up to a point. Doesn’t excessive veneration of the Sheikhs divert our attention from Allah, and are we not making an idol of the Sheikhs? Some Muslims veneration of the Sheikhs in Islam is akin to Christians views of Jesus in Christianity. We maybe compromising the very monotheistic message The Prophet (pbuh) brought. I am not going to go as far as and say forget the Sheikhs but remember the message. However, we do need to temper our veneration of the Sufis Sheikh lest we dilute The Prophet’s monotheistic message.
If you ask a Muslim, do you worship Allah or Sufis Sheikhs? Most will respond: Allah!
To paraphrase Rabia (may Allah be pleased with her), I love Allah so much that there is no room left in my heart for the Sufi Sheikhs. Would any Sufi Sheikh condemn me for this declaration? I don’t think so. They will say, “Praise be Allah”, may Allah lift you up even to higher and higher maqams and while you are in The Beloved’s Presence, pray for us too!
True Sufis Sheikhs direct their disciples’ love not toward themselves but TOWARD ALLAH. Look where the Sheikhs are looking. That is where you will find The Beloved. Where are the Sheiks looking?

Do it yourself remembrance is better than the Sheikh trying to remind your name to Allah. Allah does not need reminders from the Sheikhs.

You make some good points; however, your message is lost on many of the visitors of this site because you come across angry, intolerant, and incoherent.
I think you are trying to impress. I don’t get impressed with people who try to impress. I know you have a lot to say, but you need to spend sometime what you want to convey in your message and shorten your post. Quality is better than quantity.
I don’t agree with you on everything, but there are things I am in agreement with you. If you want to get your point across, do it respectfully and without coming across angry, intolerant, or incoherent. You are trying too hard to get your point across. Easy does it! Work on your disposition! Remember, you can lead the donkey to water, but you can not make it drink. Some people are like donkeys! Let them burn in hell. The Prophet was a Warner, not an Enforcer! Be Warner. Be a Teacher, but not a preacher! Forget about enforcing your views on others. It will not work. If you don’t believe me, try getting a toy from a child’s hands. For some people their belief system is like a toy, they will not let it go. They maybe adult, but they are really like little children. Make people think and raise their consciousness to higher consciousness.
Appreciate the similarities; understand the difference. Ultimately, it is not between you and them, but between you and your Creator.

I can only tell you how I found God. I hope it helps. The quote below had tremendous impact on me when I was in high school. This is from Imam Ghazzali’s Autobiography. I read it in a book that was not even about Sufism. I was not even looking for a book about Sufism. Some Invisible Force directed me to that book and that quote. I hope and pray that the same Invisible Force directs your steps a long your journey. It started my search, and it continues to this day. It had a beginning, and I am still learning, growing and moving to higher and higher stations.
Self-disclosure: I am a Muslim. Quran is my compass, Muhammad (pbuh) is my model, and Allah is my goal. Allah is the Guide. I believe that you do not need to surrender to a sheikh to be on the Sufi Path; however, I respect if someone wants to have a sheikh. I never had one so I will be dishonest to tell someone to go to a sheikh. I respect all the sheikhs such as Jilani, Ghazzali, Rumi, Jami, Arabi, Shems, Attar, and many others because they made my path easy along the Sufi Path.
I also will tell you that many people who claim to be on the Sufi Path, but in reality, they are not following the Sufi Path because their path is devoid of Allah, Quran, and Muhammad. It should be called something else. Authentic Sufism is based on Allah, Quran, and Muhammad. Any Sufism that is not based on Allah, Quran, and Muhammad is a fraud. It should not be called Sufism but something else.
May the same Invisible Force guide you in your search so that you will find Truth, Peace, Love, Beauty, Hope, Faith, Patience and Gratitude.

“At last I became convinced that Sufis are the true travelers on the path of Allah, that their behavior is the finest of all the behaviors, that their path is the rightest of all paths and that their character is the noblest of all characters. Indeed, if all the intellects of intellectuals, the wisdom of wise men, the knowledge of jurists and theologians were to get together with a view to changing a thing in Sufi behavior or character for something better, they could not find it”. (1, p. 160).
The other book that I bought when I was in high school is Ninety-Nine Names of Allah by Shems Friedlander with al-Hajj Shaikh Muzaffereddin, Harper Colophon Books, Copyright @ 1978. This book I think is still available from online books sellers, but you can find the updated version at www.jerrahi.org. They do have some online readings that may interest you.

We have and we will make mistakes as humans but then we ask Allah Most Merciful to forgive our mistakes and we seek nothing more than His love, for there is no one deserving Love and worship except God (Allah).
I have no means of knowing who in the contemporary world is loved by Allah, for all of us here are still going through the test of life. So i feel safe loving the Prophet of Islam(SAW) and those about whom our Phophet (SAW) and Quran confirms as the rightly guided ones, for they indeed earned God's favor.

So truly and beautifully said by Rumi.
On the way to Allah heavy bags full of possessions are not allowed, you better throw them away and walk empty handed, heart full, a love's beggar!
And by possessions Rumi did not mean wealth only, but also heavy and burdening knowledge, which is gathered from the holy books without the understanding of the true devotion and love. Such an accumulated knowledge is borrowed by others, by books, people, religious institutions, but it is a dead knowledge for you, because it has not become your own experience, it has not become your own real knowing.
Such accumulated dead 'religious" knowledge is not religious at all, but a heavy burden for your mind. Mind is too small and limited to encompass the true religiousness - love for Allah, for such an infinite love all your being is needed. That is why mind , when overwhelmed and overburdened with dead and faked religious knowledge can easily crash and go berserk.
We all visitors here have already seen a few examples of flooding verbal non senses, which strangely enough arrogantly claim to be "Nabi's", "His Presence", the only Islam!
But they are nothing more than a self delusional ego trip of a mind gone astray.

I see here claiming "righteous Muslims", false followers of Prophet Mohammad, like Lalyuf and AV, easily to jump on innocent and lovable Sufi mystics and sincere devotees of Allah with ugly labels. They violate not only against Sufi saints, they do it also against precious human beings like Osho, Buddha, Jesus, Rabia. And they dare to call themselves true Muslims and Allah surrendered!
What I can clearly see is their absolute surrendering to their enormous Ego, which has difficulties to accept any other thing in existence except its own delusional ego imprisonment.
However, what really wonders me, is how silent keep all the Sufis declared on this blog!
It is me, the Osho sannyas, who is the only one courageously defending Sufi mystics and all the beloved enlightened beings of Allah and who is protecting the pure name of the Nabi from misusing and misinterpretation.
Others, like nj, simply wait for maybe the Prophet will stand up from his grave or Allah may talk to him from the sky to give him the right instructions to follow!
That is what I call religious hypocrisy and cheer cowardice of people, who do not respect even themselves.

I “seek nothing more than His love, for there is no one deserving Love and worship except God (Allah)”. This has been my secret on the Sufi Path too. Please stay on the path. Don’t let anyone dissuade you from this path that you have travelled for so long. You are still on the right track. Keep pushing to the front. It is worth it. When you get in the valley, know that He is with you and will carry you to the peak. May these words

You never know what sources of divine knowing will Allah provide you drinking from - it could be Mohammad, it could be Osho, it could be Jesus, or Lao Tsu, or Buddha.
Sources only seem different, otherwise their center is the One.
That is why when you jump with insolence and offenses onto anyone of those divine sources, you in fact arrogantly jump onto the One, the Most Powerful.

As I prayed my tahajjud prayers, you were on my mind. It occurred to me that I should share with you my thoughts and prayers because these came to the surface while my mind was focused on you during prayers so I want to share it with you.
“Rasulullah (pbuh) said: The best Salat after Fardh is Tahajjud prayed at night.
(Abu Daud, Ahmad, Ibn Majah, Muslim, Nasai, Tirmidhi). Our Lord, the Blessed and Exalted, comes to down to us every night to the nearest heaven at the time when one third of the latter portion of the night remains and says: Who calls Me, I shall respond to him, whoso begs of Me, I shall give him, whoso seeks My forgiveness, I shall forgive him”. (1, p. 53).
“Hz. Ali (May Allah be pleased with him) used to pray, Ya Jabbira kulli kasirin wa ya musahilla kulli asirin-“O Jabbar, the one who puts together all that is broken and the one who brings ease to every difficulty.” (2, p. 17). Visualize and affirm all that is broken in your life are being mended, restored, and healed. All difficulties are being eased.

“Keep a balanced state with the knowledge that “all good and bad come from Allah,” and that a fine wisdom, unknown to us, is in Allah’s judgment. Whatever happens, tie your heart to Allah’s prescription and Allah’s pleasure, and continue doing your duties as Allah’s good servant. Such faithful ones, well balanced and serious, will certainly gain Allah’s help, approval, and love.” (2, p. 30). Visualize and affirm that Allah is helping you, Allah is approving you, and Allah is loving you.
“Those who find the peace and security of as-Salam in their hearts believe in and depend on Allah in all their affairs, and know that by the grace of that name they will be saved from all dangers and difficulties. When they are saved from a danger by someone, they see the real savior, although they are also thankful to the intermediary. A Turkish proverb says, “Don’t lean on a tree that will but dry up and decay; don’t depend on men, they will but age and die.” The one who depends on Allah, as-Salam, the savior will never panic. Allah’s strength will show itself in him as the fearlessness of the believer. This is the manifestation of as-Salam. Patience is also manifestation of as-Salam. (2, p. 13).

Adopt an optimistic cheerful nature which sees only good in everyone and everything. This attitude removes many of the nervous tensions that come when you program your mind to disaster. Program out of your mind the negative charges that are aroused by such negative word as: Sickness- substitute the word- HEALTH. Failure- Program the word- SUCCESS. Poverty- Change this to- RICHES. Fear- Build the quality of- CONFIDENCE. Hate- Supplant it with- LOVE. Loss- Change this word into- GAIN.
War- Visualize permanent- PEACE. Disaster- Affirm the reality of- CALMNESS and
ORDER. Age- See the spiritual reality- YOUTH. Impossible- Admit that all things are- POSSIBLE. Limitation- Affirm and see an- UNLIMITED UNIVERSE.
To meditate on the positive states of consciousness and remove the negative emotional charges of the above and other negative words, sit quietly in meditation and repeat the following sentences, substituting one of the positive words given above, until you have removed the negative charges of your consciousness and replaced them with the positive forces.

I now break the mold of sickness and substitute the thought of perfect health. I am mentally and physically perfect. I program into my higher mind centers the consciousness of success, mentally, physically, financially, socially, and spiritually, I am successful. I am aware of the infinite riches in the universe, created for my use and enjoyment. I now accept and abundance. I reflect poise and confidence in my personality, my words and actions and negate all fear thoughts. I am filled with the emotion of love and remove hate, animosity and rancor from my mind centers. I aligned with great good and I gain benefits from my life activities which enrich my life experience. I am a peace with the world and with myself. No power can move from the safe anchor of calm and order. I reflect calmness and order at the center of my being and in the outer periphery of my life circumstances. I am spiritually young and eternally joyous with the vibrant force of youth, energy and vitality. I remove the negative charge of defeat and failure and live in the consciousness of infinite possibilities in every realm of my life experience. I meditate on the unlimited and boundless universe in which cosmic expansion, growth, riches and abundance are mine by divine law.” (3, pp. 73-74).
The Prophet (pbuh) prayed, “Our Lord, give unto us in this world that which is good and in the Hereafter that which is good, and protect us from the punishment of Fire”. ( Quran 2:201).
May you be blessed in going out and may you be blessed in coming in. May you go out of your home with joy and return home in peace. May you sleep in peace and awake in joy.

Thank you for all your advices including crying out to our Lord Almighty for His favors when He descends down nearest to us. Indeed it is where i am lacking.

I just revised my vocabulary, crossing out all negative words with cheerful positive one. There was one important word missing, i crossed out Oppression and changed it with Freedom.
Its truly a blessing to find such beautiful people, in most amazing of places, like brother Sadiq's blog, who in the words of Quran "Exhort one another to truth and exhort one another to endurance." Al Asr.
May Allah Most Merciful guide us all and fill our hearts with peace, contentment and true Love. ameen.

You say: "I have no means of knowing who in the contemporary world is loved by Allah", and then you suddenly ask AV, for whom you know nothing, neither his e-mail address nor name he ever wanted to share with you; but in spite of all this well protected anonymosity of AV, in spite of his easy exploding "fit of anger" and menaces against blog visitors, you still insist on AV praying to Allah for you and being the mediator between you and Allah.
My question to you, nj, is how can you ask somebody else, especially somebody hiding his true face, be your mediator to Allah?
Why do not you pray directly to Allah yourself? Why do not you just open your heart to the Beloved and tell Him the words you feel like telling Him?
Beware of others telling you what is truth, be aware of go-gooders. You will have to find Truth yourself, to feel it yourself.
And Allah is so close to you that you have not to go on a faraway journey. You have to go in silence, in profound peace, beyond words, and suddenly you find the temple of consciousness. And as you enter into it you disappear.
Only God is. That is your authentic reality. God is your very soul.

Here I have three remarks:
- First of all, I do not think it is Allah who made AV get up in the middle of the night to pray for you. If it was really Allah he would have woke YOU up to pray to Him, the Most Merciful, Lateef and Kareem!
I think it was AV's ego which woke him in the middle of the night and you were the reason for his ego to be so actively boosted. It is you who in several comments since some time by now, have always shown your admiration and approval to AV and as far as I remember from your previous comments, you have also asked him several times to keep you in his prayers!
- Second, if you ask somebody to pray for you only because he is good in parrot like reciting Quran but however, bad in truly understanding Quran and following Quran's wisdom in real life (we all remember AV's ugly words and abusing people in this blog and out of this blog), then you really need to pray in emergency to our God the Most Merciful, because you must be in trouble!
- Third, how does it happen that a righteous Muslim is happy when a mass destroyer like AV prays for him, and is not taking any stand against when this same mass destroyer abuse alive and dead human beings? Is for you, nj, parrot like dead reciting of Quran enough a proof for God loving? Is not Quran's wisdom for been followed into real life?
And one more remark - the truly religious heart never lies and knows no hypocrisy.

I absolutely agree with you. Allah does not love the oppressors. May we never oppress our own souls nor oppress others. We need FREEDOM from things, ideas, and people who try to separate us from the Beloved.

I am glad you responded in such a positive and uplifting way to my post despite someone trying to create fitna between us. I have very good feeling about your response. I have a feeling that you are in good spirit. "Exhort one another to truth and exhort one another to endurance" instead of condemning and spreading fitna between two travelers on the Sufi path.

Dear AV,
The only "vendetta against you" is lead by no other but your enormous self boosting ego. It is your ego which by "oppressing" your own being does not let you feel "the freedom" of the true Allah devotion.
There is no need for anyone else to take a vendetta upon you, you are doing it yourself on yourself.
As for me, I am all for you, for your inner being, that is why I keep hammering on the rock of your self delusions.
Beautiful Quran quotations you bring in here, but Quran is for you to meditate and ponder upon first, not to impose it on others without you yourself have made Quran part of your inner being. Quran is not something you created, it is not your own possession to claim right and possessiveness on it. Quran is God's, it is divine and you must humbly meditate over its wisdom instead of showing off your dead/mental knowledge ability on others. A knowledge which has not been made part of your being, of your blood system, which is not your own experiencing, such a knowledge is not the true knowing.
