his speck of dust will become a mountain

1.
The intimate beloved of Allah reveals these words directly from the most precious Lord: "When I intensely love one of My true friends, I alone become the hearing with which he hears, the seeing with which he sees, the hands with which he grasps, and the feet with which he walks. Were such a one that serves Me to request absolutely anything of Me, I would instantly grant it." - Hadith Qudsi

2.
Then said Christ, the blessed Messiah and Ruhu'Llah (Spirit from God), "As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in pure love. If you obey divine commands, you will remain in love (from the divine). I have spoken unto you this so that my bliss be yours and your bliss be complete. My instruction is this, Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no more than this, that he sacrifice his life for his beloved friends. You are my beloved friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his Master's business. Instead, I have called you beloved friends, for everything that I received from Father I have transmitted unto you. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit - fruit of eternal life.

Then the Divine will give you whatever you ask in my holy name.

This is my command: Love each other." - John 15:9-17

3.
Your heart has only to take one step toward Him, and His love will take several steps toward you. He is more eager for the lovers’ meeting than they are.

“Allah sustains whomever He will, without reckoning” [2:212]

When He wants a servant [‘abd] to do something, He prepares him for it. This is something that has to do with inner meanings, not outer forms. When what I have referred to has been fully accomplished by a servant, he has achieved genuine abstinence [zuhd] from this world and the hereafter, and from everything apart from the Master.

He will now receive true health. He will receive nearness [qurb]. He will receive dominion [mulk], sovereignty [saltana] and authority [imaara].

his speck of dust will become a mountain

his tiny drop, an ocean

his star, a moon

his moon, a sun

his little, much

his obliteration, existence

his mobility, stability

his annihilation, perpetuity.

his tree will grow tall; it will tower up to the heavenly throne, while its roots are in the earth and its branches provide share in this world and the hereafter. What are these branches? Wisdom and knowledge. For him this world comes to be like a signet ring. Nothing worldly controls him, and nothing otherworldly confines him. Neither king nor mameluke is his owner. No obstacle impedes him. No one takes him to task. No disturbance distresses him.

- Excerpt from Al Fath ar-Rabbani (The Sublime Revelations), by Saint among saints, Shaykh Abdul Qadir al-Jilani, may God be well pleased with his noble soul and grant us, the insignificant ones - drops from his Ocean of baraka

Please Allah instead of pleasing, taking, creating a rival equivalent to Allah. How often God says, “Come to Me; Surrender to Me”. Surrender to the One, One, and One. O Sufi, Will you surrender to The One or some other?

The wounding is the ache of the depth and beauty of love as the heart receives it. All love is from God.
It is a gift.

Osho also talks beautifully about the hidden power and the fragrance of freedom of the authentic human being: "People are afraid, very much afraid of those who know themselves. They have a certain power, a certain aura and a certain magnetism, a charisma that can take out alive, young people from the traditional imprisonment....

The enlightened man cannot be enslaved - that is the difficulty - and he cannot be imprisoned.... Every genius who has known something of the inner is bound to be a little difficult to be absorbed; he is going to be an upsetting force. The masses don't want to be disturbed, even though they may be in misery; they are in misery, but they are accustomed to the misery. And anybody who is not miserable looks like a stranger.

The enlightened man is the greatest stranger in the world; he does not seem to belong to anybody. No organization confines him, no community, no society, no nation."

James,

“What 'other'? Is there anything in the whole of existence that is not He?”

The ‘other’ is your sheikh! Am I correct? If you like to debate, I think you should enroll in logic class or debate class.

Why don’t you concentrate on the below instead of ‘other’? What is more important ‘other’ or Allah, Quran, Muhammad, or Islam?

The Emissary of God (may God bless him and grant him peace) said, “If a man says every morning, “I am content (radiu) with God as my Lord, Islam as my Religion, the Quran as my Guide, and Muhammad (may God bless him and grant him peace) as my Prophet and Emissary”, then God must give him contentment on the Day of Resurrection. Dear James,
Thank you for bringing the Truth in the words of As Shabistari:

"Real 'Islam' means surrendering to WHAT IS, rather than what one believes to be there. And the first step towards WHAT IS is the recognition that one does not, in fact, know what it is: that it cannot be circumscribed by words, concepts, beliefs."
It is exactly in the same way I understand true religiousness and true surrendering to God (Islam) - to accept reality as it is not as our conditioned minds want it to be. Who are we to not accept the reality as it is and as God made it?

Your very "think", only serves to expose the fact
that you have NOT got it.

What Naomi was so beautifully expressing,
was from her "heart", not her intellect.

AV, a person of understanding,
knows nothing.

And you know a little too much for my liking.

As for your response to James:-
"the 'other' is the sheik! Am I correct?

The simple answer is ~ NO.

The untarnished mirror that is the Master,
simply reflects your true nature.

And when the illusion of separateness is dispelled,
the Light of Oneness is revealed.

As for your proceeding comment to James:-
"If you like to debate, I think you should enroll in logic class or debate class."

As james once so wisely stated ~
One very good reason for having a sheikh,
is to learn some manners.

Cailean,

Many of you talk about love and talk about manners. However,
few of you practice it in reality. All someone has to say that he does not need a sheikh then your knives come out. I like to learn from different people instead of being programmed like a computer by one sheikh. I am human a being, not a computer.

Naomi’s response was beautiful.

Maybe all of you can learn from her. I was for manners when manners were not cool. You just have a way of supporting anyone who disagrees with me. To put it bluntly, if Satan starts arguing with me, you will start taking Satan’s side.

Why can’t we just agree that if someone wants to go with a sheikh let him and if someone wants to travel without a sheikh, so be it? Let the seeker decide!

First of all remove your stupid signature. When one comes to see some peaceful thing in Adi's blog, its suffocating to see the very word itself. Heh.

AV,

"All someone has to say that he does not need a sheikh . . . "

But AV, this is NOT all "you" have to say is it? Just read your relentless daily posts herein.

Your very notion that a sheikh is a "programmer" of people, once again only serves to expose your lack of understanding accordingly.

If a skeikh serves to programme another, then he/she is no "sheikh" at all.

I'm sorry if you perceive me to be a "knife" wielder. This is not my intention, I can assure you.

Indeed, in a recent post, when I presented a reference directly about "drooping the knife" by Hafiz, your response was ~ and I quote:- "AV is holding on to his knife just in case". Need I say more?

Yes! ~ Naomi's response was beautiful, immensely beautiful, but even that you initially found fault with.

"I was into manners when manners were not cool."

Then with deepest respect, it would appear that you are no longer "into" them.

"You just have a way of supporting anyone who disagrees with me."

AV, I am not so petty. Were I to be, then I would probably be writing to you on a daily basis.

I speak when I am moved to. I am sorry if this offends you.

"If Satan starts arguing with me, you will start taking Satin's side."

I'm sorry but now your making me laugh.

Why can't we just agree that if someone wants to go with a sheikh, let him and if someone wants to travel without a sheikh, so be it? Let the seeker decide!"

I couldn't agree with you more.

AV, know that I will not be drawn into an on-going "debate" with you around this, as this will most likely only serve to further feed into what I perceive to be a rather pointless and somewhat negative pattern of yours. I will however, continue to contribute herein as and when I am "moved" to do so.

My dear friends and seekers....I hope I can call you that. I have been monitoring the passionate discussions since they started, and I have been reading Sadiq's blogs every day, since I first discovered them a couple of years ago.
I found that what was happening to me...was the way such diverse reactions were touching areas within me that I needed to be more aware of in my own reactions.

Some have written that they are learning from the dialogue, each in their own way and according to their own need to be in touch with what they feel and believe.
We have all kinds of reactions. When someone finds a point of assurance and sanctuary with which they feel comfortable, it is so tempting for all of us to want to burrow in and savor it or to tell the world what wonder there is in what we have found! This is finding our voice.
I am finding how much I needed to listen with my heart to what means so much to each of you.
Sadiq loves the diversity of creation, the many faces of the beloved, and he challenges me to open my heart ever wider to the beauty of our God and of all who love All that God is...especially when a certain perception begins to make me really uncomfortable.

We have a wonderful chance to learn from each other here, to find our collective purpose and reason for being here on this earth at this time.
Your passionate expression of what means so much to you is a testament to your deep feeling for it. I pray we can find the compassion that is waiting beyond the surface of what we share....in that mysterious presence of God, who I call the Beloved.

My Love to you All,
Naomi

Cailean,

I did not find fault with Naomi’s initial post “the flowing of love through the words and the music is so beautiful to my heart.....it hurts”. I wrote, “I don’t think hurting was the intention”. She replied, “The wounding is the ache of the depth and beauty of love as the heart receives it. All love is from God. It is a gift”, and I wrote, “Thank you for the clarification. I think I got it. The below is your take on it.

“AV, Your very "think", only serves to expose the fact

What Naomi was so beautifully expressing,

AV, a person of understanding,

Who is starting argument? Who is condemning whom now?

As I think more over Naomi’s post, As I understand it, sometime people shed tears from
joy. It hurts in a different way, but it is not really hurting.

I guess Saint Francis of Assisi knew nothing when he wrote, “to understand”.

I try to be fully integrated person. I try to use all the gifts God has given me. God does not create junk. Don’t condemn the “intellect” because it is also a gift from God as so is the “heart”.

Subhasmita,

“Learn and respect everything then only u can know the source of everything”.

I posted the below few weeks ago. Do you see any hint of disrespect for others?

It is better that we respect and revere our brothers/sisters’ homes as our own, but stay in our own homes and decorate it with commitment and loyalty. Dig deep. Make commitment. You can still respect and revere others even if you make commitment to your Own Way. I wish my brothers and sisters well who resides in the Monasteries, Temples, Mandirs, Churches, Gudwaras, and Synagogues. I am happy with the Ka’ba and the Quran as my home.

Instead of getting into endless arguments, we need to allow each seeker to decide for him/herself whether he/she needs a sheikh/sheikha on the path or not. If someone does not feel comfortable with surrendering to a sheikh, let him go on the journey on his own. Self-reliance is happiness. My goal is to make someone journey on the path easy too. My goal in life is to make people think and raise their consciousness to higher consciousness.

“First of all remove your stupid signature”.

Subhasmita, Where is “First of all remove your stupid signature” leading too?
Today, you are asking me to get rid off the “stupid signature”. Tomorrow, you may ask me to drop this “stupid” talk of Ka’ba and the Quran. Yet, you say,
“Learn and respect everything …”

Naomi,

Yes, faith is a gift. We do the preparation; He does the choosing. God bestows gift of faith irrespective of whether one is an ordinary believer, a lone seeker, or a seeker who is assisted by a sheikh. It is His to give.

“Faith is the great connecting link between the objective and the subjective states. Faith opens the door of the True Source of Life, and it is through faith that we touch Infinite Power. Our life is grand or ordinary, large or small, in proportion to the insight and strength of faith.” (1, p. 23).

“Faith believes; doubt fears. Faith creates; doubt destroys. Faith opens the door to all things desirable in life; doubt closes them. Faith is an arouser, an awakener of our creative forces. It opens the door of ability and arouses creative energies. Faith is the link in the Great Within that connects us with our Maker. It is the Divine Messenger sent to guide men and women, who are often blinded by doubt and sin.” (1, p. 23)

“Many people do not trust their faith, because they do not know what it is. They confuse it with fancy or imagination, but it is the voice of a Power Within in touch with Omnipotence. It is spiritual faculty which does not guess or think or doubt, but which knows, for it sees the way out, which the other faculties cannot see. It is knowledge just as real as the knowledge which we gain through the senses. Faith is a great elevator of character, and has a wonderful influence on the ideals. It lifts us to the heights and gives us glimpses of the promised land. It is “the light of truth and wisdom.” (1, p. 23).

In Islamic terms, it can be described by the three I’s: Islam (submission), Iman (faith), and ihsan (awareness of Allah).

Faith in God Is a Gift from God

Where there is Faith there is Love,
Where there is Love there is Peace,
Where there is Peace there is God,
Where there is God there is no need. (1, p. 31).

Yes, faith does change us “profoundly”.

“Though from my gaze profound
Deep awe hath hid Thy face
In wondrous and ecstatic Grace
I feel Thee touch my inmost ground”. (2, p. 131)

Yes, exactly so, James. To love 'an object" does not mean to make it "your personal property". And even less so when we talk to the highest form of love - Love for the Ultimate Truth, which is not an object at all but the ever pervading subjectivity of the whole existence.

Crystallize your being by falling head over heels in love with truth.

Not only in his to nausea repeated signature but also in almost all of his comments AV intended to not only offend , but also destroy others and used unpardonable words for a religious blog such as knife, weapon for mass destruction, ugly words meant to abuse people. And the amazing thing is that he did all this intentioned offending cowardly hiding behind holy names such as Quran, Muhammad, Islam. Unfortunately he is not the only one false surrendered to God. If he shoots people using words, meant to harm, some others do it using real weapons. How did it happen that a beautiful religion of God surrendering as Islam, was misused by sick egos for the harm of humanity?

Anonymous said...

James,

There you go again. Personal attacks and mudslinging are the only weapons you have. It is not sticking. It is not working. I am still standing.

I did not make any accusations against Dr. Bitkoff. The problem with you is don’t read my or anyone posts carefully.

Please save me from Sayed Idries Shah. I don’t believe in “spiritual royalty”.
We in American have difficulty with the royalty. Shah dishonored the Prophet by stripping Sufism of Allah, Quran, and Muhammad. The Prophet descendants must uphold the standards of the Prophet. Shah did not. The Prophet descendants have to earn my respect and the respect of other Muslims. Respect is earned. It is not inherited. They have to work for it. I guess you want me to get down on my knees to King of Jordan and King of Morocco because they claim to be descendants of the Prophet. Many devout Muslims are rotting in their jails. I will praise the descendants of the Prophet when they do right. When they do wrong, I will condemn them. Shah was wrong, dead wrong. Most scholars of Islam and Sufism recommend that serious students of Sufism should avoid his books. I believe in their objective opinions than your and Shah’s perverted interpretation of Sufism.

I don’t care if you put ten times, hundred times, and thousand times Sayed before Shah’s name. Skunk is skunk no matter how much perfume to try spray on it. Shah will be known by his work. You can not change that fact.

“The reception of Shah's movement was also marked by much controversy.[19] Some orientalists were hostile, in part because Shah presented classical Sufi writings as tools for self-development to be used by contemporary people, rather than as objects of historical study.[13] L. P. Elwell-Sutton from Edinburgh University, Shah's fiercest critic, described his books as "trivial", replete with errors of fact, slovenly and inaccurate translations and even misspellings of Oriental names and words – "a muddle of platitudes, irrelevancies and plain mumbo-jumbo", adding for good measure that Shah had "a remarkable opinion of his own importance".[45] Expressing amusement and amazement at the "sycophantic manner" of Shah's interlocutors in a BBC radio interview, Elwell-Sutton concluded that some Western intellectuals were "so desperate to find answers to the questions that baffle them, that, confronted with wisdom from 'the mysterious East,' they abandon their critical faculties and submit to brainwashing of the crudest kind".[22] To Elwell-Sutton, Shah's Sufism belonged to the realm of "Pseudo-Sufism, centred not on God but on man."[19]

“all in support of Shah's incipient efforts to market Sufism to a Western audience.[4] He acknowledged that Shah had made a contribution of sorts in popularising a humanistic Sufism, and had "brought energy and resource to his self-aggrandisement", but ended with the damning conclusion that Shah's was "a 'Sufism' without self-sacrifice, without self-transcendence, without the aspiration of gnosis, without tradition, without the Prophet, without the Qur'an, without Islam, and without God. Merely that."[4][36]

Please see below for continuation.

However, when somebody acts out of compassion and in full awareness as a mirror of the ugliness, falsity and violence in front, this act I call a godly act. The mirror cannot be blamed for mirroring the ugliness and falsity in front. A man of Truth is God's mirror and help the fast asleep and blind ones to see their own ugliness and stupidity so they can awaken for their own divinity.
