We are a door that’s never locked

1.
The friends of God are door that is never locked. Those who come in touch with them with a pure heart, with a child like innocent intention, glimpse through that door and if they are blessed enough they are led to walk through that door.

Beyond this door are two chambers.

First chamber is absolutely dark, darkest than the darkness inside the most grand blackholes of the cosmos. This chamber is the chamber of Deus Absconditus (God Hidden, Allahu Batin), the station where nothing else remains, the Realm of la-ilaha. This chamber has such an intense darkness that those who have veil in their spiritual eyes can not see anything. Even the darkness envelope the existence of the door in such way that those who are spiritually blind can not even recognize such persons, thus misses the opportunity to walk through the door. And such keeper of door, such men of God have always lived among us, in every town, every land, in every age.

About the spiritually blind ones who fail to recognize such door, God says directly to Prophet Muhammad and hence to all of humanity: "Nor can you lead away the (spiritually) blind out of their error." - The Quran 30:53

The whole system of transmission of eastern spirituality can be summarized in the title of the great spiritual scripture, "Upanishad" which etymologically means "to sit near" - meaning these wisdom were given to those who sat near the God realized ones, the sages of ancient time. In sufi path much emphasize is given to seek and sit with such person who are doorway to God. This emphasis can be found in every single faith tradition, but many tradition has made it into such harsh institutionalized form (such as pope in vatican) that it has lost its real purpose.

Beyond the first chamber of absolute darkness is the chamber of absolute light. This is the chamber of "Deus Revelatus" (God Revealed, Allahu Zahir) or the Realm of "illa-Allah" (nothing but God). This is the chamber which is characterized by Light upon Light, Nurun ala Nur (Quran 24:35).

The saints, friends of God are door that's never locked. May we feel the attraction, find such door and may we all able to glimpse and walk through such doors. a m e n

2.
Where Jesus lives,
the great-hearted ones gather.
We are a door
that’s never locked.

If you are suffering
any kind of pain,
stay near this door. Open it.

- inscription at the door of a church in Shiraz, Iran. the verses are attributed to Mevlana Rumi

3.
Bismi'Llah Babuna

"In God's Name" is our Door.

- traditional supplication of Shadhili sufis

what a wonderful coincidence!
Ive been following your blog for several months now, and I wanted to say (as my first comment to you) how wonderfully rich it is- and thank you for the love you pour into it...

but today, to find talk of the doorway!

I just wrote a piece a few days ago, and yesterday part of it I just had to turn into a poem- may I cross post it here? - Ive still been thinking it is just a draft, but I cant help but to share the coincidence of the conversation of the "door" coming from two or more places at once :)

(it doesnt completely jibe with what your post conveys, but I trust you would see that from the heart-space, that can hardly matter)

_____________________

the only way to convey
a truth-completely-seen,
is to BE that truth,
completely

one must be like a janitor
one may have the keys to a truth
but it is just a doorway-
the only job for the one
who has seen the other side
is to leave the door
open

if the truth
from the other side
should be pulled into the hall
for delivery
then our poor janitor has failed
at his job-
treating the contents of
that truth
as his own property, and
as such, he
has stolen it away

this is how it is to create
hierarchy, out of that
which was never subject to it

-the truth

it cannot be a
proper stewardship of truth,
to make the truth one's own
to enter into the debate

the true janitor
opens the door
and leaves

our participants in the hall
are to find the doorway
for themselves-
to go through
themselves

there is a great humility to being the janitor
this is what makes him the “keeper”
of truth… the debators
may have clever means
for “success”
at their disposal
but for their sadness
they may never come upon the truth
(we will only get to see
what we've come to find
in our debate-
more of our own “not enough”)…

this is why
the janitor
is found to be
mumbling to himself-

his conversation has been
with unseen
unknown things, that others
in the hall
have yet to discover

---------------

note:the image (and thus, the word) of Janitor keeps coming to me by way of its etymology:

1584, "an usher, doorkeeper," from L. janua "door," from janus "arched passageway"

and so,

Janus: ancient It. deity, guardian god of portals, patron of beginnings and endings, 1508, from L., lit. "gate, arched passageway," perhaps from PIE base *ei- "to go" (cf. Skt. yanah "path," O.C.S. jado "to travel"). He is shown as having two faces, one in front the other in back. His temple in Rome was closed only in times of peace.

the metaphor is so utterly rich- the "two faces" being a metaphor for that which has no opposites, or the mirror within oneself, if you like...

The Open Door would be another name for your streaming invitation to God you offer to all who enter here.
I love the photograph of this beautifully open child with outstretched arms to welcome what he sees with eyes filled with wonder! What a perfect metaphor for the open door that invites us to wander the purity and beauty of the passageways that guide us toward the expanding light of Love.
To enter the mystery can feel overwhelming and frightening at first, but it allows the rebirth of innocence when we are bathed in the light.
We learn to love with our hearts what we cannot grasp or fathom with our mind alone, and suddenly, love grasps us and surrounds and infuses us with illumined Presence.
Thank you for this touching remembrance of all the lovers who welcome and invite us into the Beloved.
