to be aware of the present moment, to be mindful of now - is an ancient wisdom of humanity. every new born child is born with such awareness as a default state - for a child everything is one and present in the moment. the child lives in the ever present now and as we grow up somewhere along the line we start to lose that ability of living awareness of now. duality comes in, getting attached to past or jumping to future becomes a predominant state.
many faith, spiritual path gives back human being the same practice of bringing ourselves again into that state of awareness of present moment. from buddhist practice of mindfulness to islamic practice of invoking God's Merciful Name, Bismi'Llah before all action - each one of them are intended for the same goal. for the sufi path, Divine is even called The Presence. thus when we are truly aware of the present moment, we are aware of nothing but the Divine.

I am so greatful to Eckhart Tolle and Oprah for turning me onto Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor and her beautiful book ""My Stroke of Insight"". Her story is amazing and her gift to all of us is a book purchase away I'm happy to say.
Dr Taylor was a Harvard brain scientist when she had a stroke at age 37. What was amazing was that her left brain was shut down by the stroke - where language and thinking occur - but her right brain was fully functioning. She experienced bliss and nirvana and the way she writes about it (or talks about it in her now famous TED talk) is incredible.
What I took away from Dr. Taylor's book above all, and why I recommend it so highly, is that you don't have to have a stroke or take drugs to find the deep inner peace that she talks about. Her book explains how. ""I want what she's having"", and thanks to this wonderful book, I can! Thank you Dr. Taylor, and thank you Eckhart and Oprah.
Every moment of our lives is filled with richness and magic and worthy of being savored. If our ability to exist purely in the moment is lost and the joys immediately in front of us are overshadowed by thoughts of the past and worry about future then we must reestablish our connection to the present in order to discover and appreciate what is beautiful about this unique moment in time, discover the abundance that life is presenting, as well as realizing that there is a purpose to everything that happens. By living in the present - also called "mindfulness" - we can realize that we are not our thoughts, but rather observers of our thoughts moment to moment, neither grasping or pushing them away. This builds our trust, and supports us in being willing to be more open to really experience life as it unfolds. Cultivating this nonjudgmental awareness of present has been proven by science to reduce stress, boost immune function, reduce chronic pain and reduce the risk of many illnesses. Especially when overwhelmed from our hectic, complex lives, staying present means immersing yourself fully in every experience, whether positive or negative. As you learn to embrace the present in an all-encompassing way, you will come to realize that life's magnificence is a product of its moments.

Human life waves around different aspects.Eckhart tolle stress management helps you come out from a narrow circle. A versatile website tells you the significance of self realization.
With all due respect - Ekhart Tolle is only taking one of the most ancient forms of spiritual thought - Sufism - which predates Islam - and repackaging it for today's people. People with shortened attention spans and the love/connection to material things. I have yet to hear or see anything new. Once you read Ekhart Tolle I suggest that you deeply look into Suifism and find a true and straight path to enlightenment. Tolle is doing a good thing at getting the suburban dwelling soccer moms to look into themselves deeper but it is only the first step. And sadly, as do all spiritual fads, how long will he really be around? How many people claimed to be Buddhist in the 80s and 90s? How many are still dedicated to that life? It is very difficult to live a 'modern' life and be spiritual. Modern trappings distract us, people distract us, love distracts us - the list goes on. A true mystic will never share his tale as they have wandered away from life to be - just be.
Anonymous,
Authentic Sufi Path (ASP) is based on Allah, Quran, and Muhammad.
Sufism without Allah, Quran, and Muhammad is dead. You will not
find sweetness in it.
