in your very heart resides
the essence of simple sainthood
of which, we are all
God willing - capable.
You have the seed of possibilities
to be transformed
into a saint;
to be taken away
at Beloved's gate.
Arrive O friend, arrive!
To be a friend of God
there are no
restrictions imposed.

Dedicated to Sufi Daniel Abdal-Hayy Moore.
Inspired by the introduction of Daniel Abdal-Hayy Moore's poetry book where its written: COATTAILS OF THE SAINT - is a collection of poems which chase after the coattails of sanctity, in this world with its “meanings set up as images” (a Sufi definition of what we take around us as reality), and those souls living among us right now and forever who have had bestowed upon them that dimension of sanctity which sets them apart while making them at the same time true human beings. Imagination has given these poems a “saintly” thread, with no particular saint in any traditional pantheon meant, but rather that essence of simple sainthood of which we are all (God willing) capable.

Sadiq, thank you for the lovely post.
Today I read in the book "Glimpses of Jesus" by Brennan Manning: "A saint might simply be defined as an extravagant lover of God and people."
Blessings

Salaam Dear Brother Sadiq:
To love God by loving and serving others is indeed the Sufi path, and the path to being a Saint, if Allah wills it so. Thank you for the beautiful and heart-opening poem :)

she likes this ... it is our self that imposes restrictions on others. And here, it is saying that God imposes none ... We are accepted just as we are! :o)
