"One ought not to claim 'adulthood' just because one has reached a certain age. This is not unlike 'celebrities' claiming moral and intellectual ascendance just because they enjoy prominence. They do not necessarily share a cause-effect relationship. 'Adulthood', aka, maturity, is something that begs justification.
We must not forget that this is a world full of 'adults' who are as impressionable as children. If they weren't, phenomena such as a 'consumer' society cannot logically exist, along with a whole host of other childish phenomena. "

The lack of comments to thoughts such as these shows that much of the minds that traverse this site are drug-users rather than thinkers.
ReplyDeleteThe Buddha under the Bodhi Tree was an act, not only of disengagement but of engagement. He engaged with the evils of the system within which he emerged by making a clear and effective statement of disengagement from it from under the comforting canopy of the Bodhi Tree. That is the first step. The next step is yours.
