(Psalm, 46:10)
This is a tremendous verse in Psalm (more familiar to Muslims as Jabur). This verse is one of my all time favorite. Its very simple, but it holds the greatest mystery, the hidden message. The mystery of how to know God...it is to be still, to be calm, to be meditative...by making our mind clear...by making our heart pure...only then we can realize God within, since He is the nearest. He encompasses everything and nothing encompasses Him. Meditation is a great tool to have God realization within ourselves.
In Quran also we have a beautiful verse where it is said that God can be realized inside our heart and soul.
Soon will We show them our Signs in the Universe and IN THEIR OWN SOULS, until it becomes manifest to them that this is the Truth. Is it not sufficient as regards your Lord that He is a witness over all things? How! Are they still in doubt about the meeting with their Lord? Lo! Is not He encompasses all things?
(Quran, 41:53-54)

"Be still and know that I am God"
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Thanks for the reminder.
Thanks Trevor and Jhanjian for ur comments. Many of us are ignorant about the value of meditation. Eastern religion have more emphasis on that, but Westerners really don't value it or use it frequently. we see interest in meditation, but that group of ppl are very small when compared to the whole population.
ReplyDeleteIn Islam, interesting enough meditation holds a important position. It was Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him) who used to meditate for months and years in the cave of Hira prior to receiving God's inspiration. Also during night he spent on meditative prayers.
This post reminds me of the passage in I Kings 19 where God spoke to Elijah, not in the power of the wind, earthquake, or fire, but in a “still small voice.”
ReplyDeleteThank you for reminding us to be still in the presence of God.
Very nice post, Sadiq.
